Work beside auditors, lawyers and lenders

We fill the gaps other advisers' roles leave open, without paying or taking referral fees.

Built to sit beside other advisers

Finance Ethics never audits, never gives legal or tax advice, does not resell software and does not sell financial products. That narrow footprint is deliberate. It lets us take on work that an auditor's independence rules, a law firm's role or a vendor's commercial interest keeps them from doing, without competing for their core work.

A partnership with us is a working arrangement, not a commercial one. We neither pay nor accept referral fees, commissions or incentives. Each client engages us directly, under our own engagement letter, and knows who else is involved and why.

For associations, the free Single Audit Threshold Checker shows the kind of plain-language tool we build for members.

Each partner keeps its own role

  • Accounting and CPA firms

Independence rules limit the advisory work an audit firm can do for its own attest clients. When a client needs controls design, policy writing, a fraud risk assessment or ongoing monitoring that you cannot provide, we can take it on. You keep the audit, and we document our work so your engagement team can follow it.
  • Law firms

We work under counsel's direction on the financial facts of a matter: ledger analytics, vendor and payment tracing, controls reviews and compliance program evaluations. Counsel sets the scope and decides how the work is used. We do not give legal advice or reach legal conclusions.
  • Fund administrators and lenders

Sponsors and lenders often want controls work done at a portfolio company or borrower that they should not do themselves. We run diagnostics, monitoring and reporting reviews, and the engagement letter states who the client is and who receives the report.
  • Software vendors

We work with the systems clients already use and learn new ones when a client needs it. We stay neutral. We take no referral fees, commissions or incentives, we do not resell, and we disclose any relationship with a vendor whose product we recommend. Export formats and documentation help us most.
  • Associations

We build education for members, including training sessions, guides, explainers and interactive tools, with subject-matter review and plain-language editing. We also take research commissions on sector benchmarks and publish the methodology with every report.

Ground rules apply to every partner

  • No payment for introductions

Partners do not pay us for referrals and we do not pay them. Each firm bills its own client for its own work.

  • The client sees the arrangement

Before work starts, the client knows who is involved, in which role, and how information will pass between firms.

  • Confidentiality in both directions

We share client information with a partner only when the client agrees, and only what the work needs.

  • Core work stays with you

We will not offer audit, legal or software resale services to a partner's client. We do not offer them to anyone.

  • Conflicts are checked first

A partner introduction goes through the same conflicts check as any other inquiry, before the first working call.

Proposing a partnership takes one email

  1. Write to us

Send a short note to partnership@financeethics.com: who you are, who you serve and the kind of work you see a need for.

  2. We reply

You hear back within two business days, with questions or a proposed time for a call.

  3. A working call

We talk through roles, independence, conflicts and how clients would be introduced. If the fit is wrong, we say so on the call.

  4. Terms in writing

We set out the arrangement in a short letter: who does what, how information is shared, and the rule that no referral fees change hands.
