Our target

Finance Ethics wants everyone who needs this site to be able to use it, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader or magnifier, need higher contrast or are sensitive to motion. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across financeethics.com, including the free tools.

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML. Pages use real headings in order, landmarks for navigation, main content and footer, lists for lists and tables for tabular data such as the frameworks page, so assistive technology can describe the structure.
  • Keyboard navigation. Every link, button, form field and tool control can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Contrast. Text and interface colors are chosen to meet the AA contrast ratios: at least 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text and the boundaries of controls. We avoid using color as the only way to show information.
  • Reduced motion. The site respects the reduced-motion setting in your operating system or browser, so animation is removed or reduced when you ask for it.
  • Alt text on every illustration. Each engraved illustration has a written text alternative that describes what it shows and the idea it carries.
  • Plain language. We write in short sentences and define technical terms in the glossary.

Known limitations

  • The free tools need JavaScript. The Controls Health Self-Check and the other tools calculate results in your browser. If you cannot run them, email us and we will go through the same questions with you by email or phone.
  • Illustrations are detailed. The text alternatives describe the main subject and idea, not every engraved line.
  • Third-party content. Links to laws, regulators and other publishers lead to sites we do not control, and some of their documents, particularly older PDFs, may not meet WCAG 2.2.
  • English only. The site is published in US English.

We review the site against WCAG 2.2 AA when we add new templates or tools, and we fix confirmed failures in order of how badly they block someone.

Report a barrier

If something on the site does not work for you, tell us:

It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use, but you do not need any of that to report a problem. We respond within two business days. If a barrier stops you from getting information you need, such as details of our Training Programs, we will provide it in another format while we fix the page.

Engagement materials

Reports, training materials and runbooks we produce for clients can be delivered in accessible formats. Tell us what you need when we scope the work.

Tell us what you are seeing

A first conversation is a scoping call: what worries you, what you need to show, and to whom. You leave it with a view on where to start, whether or not you hire us.
